UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation Introduces Automated Work Permit Services
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) in the UAE is making significant strides to simplify and streamline its employment services, adhering to its mission of eliminating bureaucracy. With this new initiative, a wide range of services, including work permit renewals and cancellations, have been automated or simplified, cutting down processing times and requirements.
Key Updates in Service Automation
Work permit renewals, which once required physical visits and documentation, can now be processed seamlessly through Mohre’s smart app, requiring no paperwork. This transformation means what used to take up to two days can now be completed automatically within one business day. The integration of Mohre’s systems with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has further expedited the process, enabling other services to be conducted almost instantaneously.
Simplified Cancellations and New Processes
The ministry has also removed the need for procedures and documentation when cancelling work permits for certain cases, such as for employees who are abroad, deceased, those diagnosed with contagious diseases, or for unused work permits. In addition, automating the process for renewing work permits while settling the status of violators with their current employer has resulted in a 50% reduction in steps and required documents.
Collaborative Efforts for Efficiency
By collaborating with other government entities and leveraging integrated systems, Mohre has been able to significantly enhance service efficiency. According to Khalil Ibrahim Al Khoori, undersecretary of labour market and Emiratisation operations, these efforts have cut the number of required document fields by up to 76%.
“With the help of AI technologies, service completion is now automatic and immediate, reducing the processing time to a maximum of one business day,” Al Khoori stated.
Introduction of New Smart Services
Mohre has introduced several new automated services to further assist employees and businesses. Workers can now obtain job experience certificates in under two minutes. Additionally, an electronic authorisation service that once took three days can now be completed in two minutes without any documentation or in-person visits, with an 80% reduction in procedures.
AI-Powered Platforms and Smart Inspections
Part of this automation drive included migrating all Mohre systems to the Federal Network (FEDnet) cloud infrastructure, enhancing overall organisational efficiency. Mohre launched an AI platform that automates tasks for establishments, cutting processing time from months to hours. The platform also recommends primary activities for new establishment cards using AI insights.
Furthermore, a smart inspection system was developed to proactively monitor labour market risks, rank establishments based on their risk level, and focus inspections on high-risk businesses.
Comprehensive Service Packages
As part of its “Zero Government Bureaucracy” initiative, Mohre has streamlined its services into three main packages:
- Work Bundle: A comprehensive suite that allows private-sector companies and individuals to manage work and residency procedures through the ‘Work in UAE’ digital platform.
- Dubai Initiatives: In partnership with ICP, Digital Dubai, Dubai Health Authority, and the Department of Economy and Tourism, enhancements were made to platforms like ‘Invest in Dubai’ and ‘Dubai Now’ for improved hiring, renewal, and cancellation processes for employees and domestic workers.
- Investor Journey - Abu Dhabi: Collaborating with the ICP, TDRA, and the Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi’s initiative saw a 100% reduction in procedures, data fields, and documents required for establishment registration.
These advancements highlight Mohre’s dedication to providing efficient, technology-driven services that reduce administrative burdens, enhance user experience, and meet the needs of a dynamic workforce.
